Where the land Still remembers

A collection of intimate luxury experiences rooted in the living cultures of Africa's indigenous communities beginning here, with the Maasai, at Lake Manyara.

OUR VISION

A collection of intimate luxury experiences, each rooted in the living cultures of Africa's indigenous communities built to protect, celebrate, and sustain those cultures for generations to come.

We begin with the Maasai. We are building toward every indigenous community in Africa.

"If we take care of the culture, the culture will take care of us in return."

OUR STORY

Why Enkare exists.

Enkare began with a question: what if the most extraordinary travel experience in Africa was not built despite its community — but because of it?

The name Enkare means water in Maa — the language of the Maasai people. Water is life. It is what sustains the land, gathers the community, and gives everything its meaning.

Not a lodge in Maasai land — but a Maasai cultural experience that happens to have extraordinary rooms.

This is where we begin. But Enkare is being built toward every indigenous community across Africa — each one a custodian of a culture the world deserves to know.

Your Experience

Five dimensions of a stay unlike any other.

Designed around one ambition: that a guest arrives curious and leaves transformed.

01

Wellness

At Enkare, wellness is not a programme — it is the air. The land, the food, the pace, and the silence are all designed to return you to yourself.

02

Living Culture

Not a show. A genuine invitation to be present in the daily life of the Maasai community — to witness, to learn, and to belong.

03

Wild Nature

Lake Manyara. The flamingos at dawn. The forest edge. An unhurried intimacy with the natural world that no photograph can fully hold.

04

Purposeful Luxury

Dedicated butler. Exceptional food. A hospitality culture built on one word: yes. Luxury that feels earned, not imposed.

05

Conservation

A stay that makes the land better. Every guest leaves knowing their presence contributed to something that will outlast them.

At Enkare, wellness is not a programme — it is the air. The land, the food, the pace, and the silence are all designed to return you to yourself.

Our Foundation

Three pillars — across every lodge.

Pillar One

Culture

At Enkare, culture is more than a performance but a way of life. Rooted in the traditions, stories, hospitality, and heritage of indigenous community, our experiences offer guests an authentic connection to one of Africa's most iconic indigenous cultures. From the design of our spaces to the experiences we curate, every stay is an invitation to discover the spirit of indigenous communities

Pillar TWO

Conservation

We believe that protecting nature is essential to preserving culture and sustaining future generations. Through environmentally conscious design, responsible tourism practices, and a deep respect for the landscapes that surround us, we are committed to safeguarding the natural heritage of Africa while encouraging travelers to explore it responsibly.

Pillar THREE

Community

Built by indigenous communities and deeply connected to the surrounding ways of living, we create opportunities for cultural exchange, local livelihoods, and community immersion. Every guest experience helps celebrate, support, and strengthen the people who make this place unique.

The Akina Mama

The women who built Enkare — and who it is built for..

"When you sleep at Enkare, you are sleeping inside a woman's life's work."

In Swahili, akina mama means the mothers. At Enkare, they are not staff or beneficiaries. They are the reason this exists.

Their hands laid the first stones. Their knowledge of the land, the plants, the seasons, and building techniques passed down for generations — that knowledge lives inside every wall.

Every guest who stays ensures these women continue to earn, to build, to teach their daughters, and to live with the dignity that has always been theirs.

The Enkare Collection

One destination today. A continent tomorrow..

We begin at Lake Manyara with the Maasai. But Enkare is being built toward every indigenous community across Africa — each lodge a custodian of a different culture, a different land, a different story.

Enkare Africa

Indigenous communities . Across africa

A continent-wide movement lodges rooted in indigenous communities from East to West Africa. Each one a place where a culture is protected, shared, and sustained through hospitality done right.

The Founders

Two perspectives. One belief.

People are no longer searching only for places to stay. They are searching for places that make them feel something.

THE BUILDER

One of us came into this space looking for long-term value creation — a business rooted in stability and the possibility of building something that could grow across generations. Hospitality felt different. It felt lasting. It felt human.

THE WITNESS

The other grew up around tourism and communities, witnessing both the beauty and the contradictions of the industry. Too often, African hospitality became performance — culture staged, experiences transactional instead of transformational.

Somewhere between those two perspectives, Enkare was born.
